Causing, pain swelling, and reduced motion in joints, osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. While it can occur in any joint in the body, it most often presents in the hands, knees, hips, or spine.

Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage in joints breaks down. Without the cushioning of cartilage, the two bones of the joint rub together and cause damage.

Risk factors for osteoarthritis include:

  • Being overweight
  • Getting older
  • Injuring a joint
